Step into nearly three acres of Glantelwe Gardens on 30th June for Sheppard’s annual Garden Auction – Ireland’s only auction presented in a garden setting. From a carved stone temple and weathered staddle stones to nineteenth-century turnstiles converted into tables, bronze fountains, cast iron urns, garden seats, stone troughs and entrance gates from another era, the sale offers an engaging collection of garden and architectural pieces. Highlights include a revolving summer house, which was lot no. 3034 at the dispersal sale of Kilkenny Castle in 1935, alongside fountains, architectural fragments, statuary, carved stone jardinières, bird baths, sundials, gazebos, stone piers, gates and architectural salvage sourced from private collections, country houses and gardens. Visitors to the viewing can wander the gardens and discover the craftsmanship, character and individuality that make these pieces so appealing for contemporary outdoor spaces.
